Job Packet Resources
Here are some sites that may provide useful resources for you as you
are working on developing your job packet. Remember to be analytical when
looking at these sites. Just because the resumes or samples are there,
or just because these guidelines are suggested does not necessarily mean
the samples are good or that the information is useful for your particular
needs. Many of these links are commercial links and by putting them here,
I in no way endorse any of the corporate sponsorship behind them.
- "Writing
Resumes"-- From the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
Writing Techniques Handbook.
- "Writing
Resumes Right" --A resource page prepared by a student at the
University of Michigan.
- 4resumes.com--A commercial internet
site (which means there are lots of advertisements and a corporate ideology
behind the links) with links to resources and "tips" for writing
job packets. Also links to job descriptions.
- Resumenet.com --Another commercial
site. This is a site for job seekers to launch job searches and place their
resumes online. Plenty of examples of individual resumes (though not all
of them great examples--you'll need to analyze and critique them) from
specific fields.
- Monster.com -- Another commercial
site designed to assist people with job searches and resume building. A
good place to look at samples and find job descriptions.
