For this response paper, you can respond to either The L.A. Riots: A Case Study of Debate Across the Political Spectrum, or Liberalism, Conservatism, Socialism, Libertarianism.  Write a 1-2 page response in which you identify the "category(ies)" from the readings that you most identify with, and explain how you learned to identify that way.

For this assignment, you will want to identify the "category" that you feel you most fit under. Briefly summarize the description of the category (in the L.A. Riots reading, choose one of the five "philosophical statements" on page 258; in the Liberalism..reading, choose one of the political stances).  For the rest of the response, analyze how you were "interpellated" to hold this political position. Identify specific examples from growing up (family, school, religion, etc) that shaped your political beliefs.

Your response paper will be evaluated with a plus, check, or minus based on how well you demonstrate a strong analytical thesis with evidence drawn directly from the text.
