Group Contract

The group contract serves as your notice and commitment to begin working with a group of people.  Please submit to me by 5pm February 4 the following information:

Contracts:

Carolyn Briody, Jeff Sitkowski, Rachit Nair

This is our group contract for your class, section 53. We are doing our service learning project on animals and we plan to go and do somehting at the humane society. My group consists of me (obviously), Jeff S., and Rachit Nair from the other section. We are all working together on this. I have talked several times with Rachit, though Jeff has not. Jeff and I have exchanged e-mail addresses and plan to talk sometime this week. Rachit mentioned something about going to the humane society and working with the dogs that are sick and still bred. These dogs are the ones that end up dying younger because they are so ill. Something along the lines of this is what we are all thinking of doing.

Jessica Pascoe, Kyle Silkey, and Cynthia Sandavae.

Broad issue: Elderly care.
Progress of group: We have exchanged e-mail addresses. Kyle has already been placed. Cynthia and Jessica are still looking but hope our instructor can help.

Tim Speasl, Nathan Knight, and Lesego Ratsebe
Currently it appears that myself (Tim), Nathan, and Lesego are in the "hunger/homelessness" group. The thing we seemed to agree on is that hunger is a global problem, and while many people view it as such they seem to forget that there are people in this country who too are hungry. People read about situations like in Korea and Vietnam, but don't seem to notice the problem within our own borders. Not to down play the significance of global hunger but obviously we cannot go to such impoverished countries at this point in time. But awareness is needed, in Tucson, Arizona and the rest of the US. We really didn't get a chance to discuss much else due to the afore mentioned time constraints. We did however, exchange email.

Lindsay Moss, James Cameron, Kristi Perkins
Kristi, James and I are doing children's cancer. We have exchanged e-mails and phone numbers and also decided that mondays and saturdays are the best days to meet because of my schedule and james's. Anyway I have also talked to the person in charge of the kids at UMC so my group is ready to begin asap. Oh, we want to do our anthology for the kids.

Richard Tuey and Benjamin R. Jarrett
Poverty and/or homelessness: We've decided to help people in this situation through participation in the Youth Volunteer Corpse and Habitat For Humanity. Exchanged phone numbers and email.

Tanvi Patel, Gloria Diaz, Alicia Corne and myself, Lindsey Goosherst.
We hope to be placed in an organization or program for the benefit of women. Ideas we have had include abortion (Pro-choice), helping young pregnant women, Planned Parenthood-style stuff. But we are at a loss as to actual positions. We hope to meet on Thursdays around 4 pm, but haven't been able to discuss that with Tanvi (as she is not in our class), but we have all exchanged phone numbers

(From Tanvi) Lindsey, Gloria and I are working on getting a service learning project in a field concerning women's/teenage female issues. Namely, we have called places such as Planned Parenthood and other clinics like that. We are having trouble finding a place to volunteer. If you have any suggestions, please help! As for now, this is where we stand in terms of finding placement. Hopefully, we can have something more concrete really soon.

Devereaux Howe, Cyndi Bennett
SUBJECT: tutoring/mentoring children

PLACEMENTS: I, (Cyndi), already have a placement at a daycare that I used to volunteer at. I will tutor elementary children, and possibly teach art classes. Devereaux does not already have a placement, but our goal is to find her one soon.

OTHER: We both know that this project will be a lot of work, especially since there are only two of us. Both of us talked about this and we feel that we can do a good job of it anyways as long as we do our shares of the work. Devereaux and I have known each other for four years. We went to high school together and have worked together on projects and assignments in the past. We decided not to split up jobs for the anthology yet. We will both gather texts as we find them. We can both write some things for it as well. We have similar styles of working, so we'll meet a lot and be pretty laid-back about the whole project.

Nick Trulove, Rosie Hernandez and Marcia Navallez.
We are interested in helping at risk kids, from the ages of elementary to high school. We were thinking about volunteering at schools. So far we have exchanged e-mail addresses and plan to meet soon.

Astrid de Bantel, Nicole Levy, Kristina Maggi
Children and their Health
E-mails and phone #'s

Shannon Bourguet, Trinette Terry, and Matthew G. Sargent
our group is leaning tenatively towards families children and coping with childhood illness, but there has been some descion about working on children and poverty it all depends on placement I guess. We havent realy meet too exstensivly but we do know each other's names, faces and e-mails so iguess theirs not much more you can ask for. Well that's where we are, and "that's all folks".

AMANDA BROWN, ALLISON STAFFORD MEGHANN PRICE, THERESA AYOUB
WE ARE GOING INTO ELEMENTARY SCHOOL CLASSROOMS AND WORKING WITH STUDENTS WHO HAVE A HARD TIME KEEPING UP WITH THE REST OF THE CLASS. WE HAVE EXCHANGED E MAIL ADDRESSES AND PHONE NUMBERS. WE ARE STILL DECIDING ON AN AUDIENCE. I THINK WE WILL EITHER DO THE SLOWER KIDS OR TEACHERS. WE HAVE NOT DECIDED ON THE NUMBER OF PIECES WE ARE GOING TO PUT IN OUR ANTHOLOGY. I THINK THAT IS IT!

Ferny Gonzales, Jewel Johnston, Phillip Kaska, Monica Romero
We as a Group have agreed to dedicate our time to the selfless act of helping children in our community. Some have chosen to help by volunteering their time at their local church community while others have chosen to spend their time by aiding teachers at local elementary schools. No matter what the means, the Group has agreed to invest his/her time in the aiding of young people.

We have contacted one another by means of electronic mail and the telephone.
