Pan Left is a Tucson based nonprofit video production organization.
The group produces videos about local social justice and labor issues.
They also document local activism. The most recent release from Pan
Left is "Border Crossings": "Border Crossings by Heather Lares
looks at the current militarization of the US/Mexico border and how it
has affected both the indigenous community and citizens of both sides of
the border. This documentary specifically focuses on the rights of indigenous
people at the border and the human rights abuses perpetrated by the Border
Patrol and other law enforcement agencies."
Pan Left's current ongoing projects include:
Poisoned --an investigation and representation of BrushWellman's
use of toxic materials in production and the consequences of that for workers
and the local environment.
Heridas Abiertas: Sonoran Copper Miners Struggle to Survive--exploring
local mining issues in the context of globalization, looking specifically
at strikes at Cananea.
Sex Work--Juliana Piccillo's diary/documentary of women in the
sex industry.
Know Your Rights--the Florence Immigration Projects video informing
immigrants of their rights.
Collaborations on these projects can come in a variety of ways, from
student volunteer work, research, as well as contacts for speakers regarding
the issues or regarding documenting activism in the community.
