Journal Assignments unit 2

Please note: currently (10/1) there are 5 journal assignments.  I may add one or two more assignments during the unit.

September 29
Library assignment (see handout)

October 10
Consider the "voices" of the issue you are investigating.  Spend a few minutes writing about how you would characterize the sides or different perspectives you have encountered.  Are there characterists that every article on one side shares that don't appear in articles from the other side?

October 15
Describe the various sources you have found.  List them according to "books," "articles," "internet pages." How many sources have you found so far?  What were some of the sources that turned out not to be useful for your project?  Why or why not? Did you choose NOT to use a source because it didn't have the rhetorical features that you were looking for?

October 22
When you come in to conference with the instructor and your group, what are the concerns you would most like to discuss? Are there elements of your draft which are making you most anxious?  Are you really proud of parts of your draft and want to talk about why that part came out so well? Are there some aspects of your research which you think would be valuable to share with the instructor and your group-mates?

October 29
When you think about your issue now, after having gone through some research and analysis of sources, how would you describe your position on the issue?  Has your position changed?  If so, was the change dramatic or subtle? If you were to DO something about this issue, what would that be?
