On October 3 1997, we talked about how to prepare for the midterm. We have to bring a text for monday to analyze and talk about how the author write it.

Some of the strategies are to outline the essay, and how one big claim (thesis) for it, and smaller claims that support it stating a purpose, audience, message, and context are useful to make an outline. Talking about pathos, logos, ethos seperately would also be another approach. We did a model analysis of a text from a magazine, which talks about how the internet is not safe for everyone due to explict contents. The class decided on the following: Purpose: Buy watch guard. Audience: Teachers and educators. Message: internet is not safe and watch guard makes it safer Context: New (ponographic web sites). To interpret the message, pictures are used showing violence and ponography in dangerous situations. Font and color for certain words also make the message revealing.
