 Major Assignments

MOO-Journal.  You will keep a reading journal, writing approximately one entry of 300 words (2 typewritten pages) each per week (a total of 10 entries for the semester).  The specific subject of some of your journal entries will be assigned, while the subject of others will be your responsibility.  If your journal entry for a specific week is not assigned, you must write a journal entry which 1) summarizes and responds to one of the weekly course readings, or 2) summarizes and responds to an issue raised during one of the weekly class discussions.  Each of these entries will be worth up to 10 points.  If you incorporate autobiographical material into your journals, the focus of your discussion should be directed toward the reading.  You will post your journal on Tuesdays throughout the semester (unless otherwise noted).  (Total possible:  200 points.)

Papers.  The majority of your points will be earned through writing three major assignments, two in HTML and one on OldPuebloMOO.  The first assignment, the Analysis essay, will be worth up to 200 points.  The second assignment, the Website History, will be worth up to 250 points.  The third assignment, the MOO Environment, will be worth up to 250 points.  You will take these three assignments through multiple drafts, and you will receive feedback from your classmates and from me as you work.  In addition, there will be a final essay exam worth up to 75 points.  The essays and exams will be evaluated for content and rhetorical effectiveness.  In addition to these major assignments, you will give a presentation at the end of the semester based on the MOO Environment project.  You will earn up to 25 points for this presentation.  (Total possible:  850 points.)
